The President of Carlgate Development Inc., Mr. John W. Southwell, has been involved in real estate and development for the past 30 years.

It was decided to incorporate in 1990 and, in addition to building on numerous lots in and around Carleton Place, Carlgate Development Inc. started it`s first subdivision called 'Carlgate Estates'. This consisted of 38 lots with individual custom-built homes bordering the northwest corner of Carleton Place.

'Carlgate Park' followed and ground was broken in the fall of 2000. This subdivision consists of 111 lots featuring Bungalows and Two Storeys, all with two car garages and brick fronts.
